I have also weighed an Extended Cab Long Bed Chevy 2500HD 6.0 4x4 and it came in at ~6700lbs.
And I have weighed an F350 Crew Cab 4x4 Long Bed V-10, it came in at ~ 7500lbs.

Diesels react very well to Nitrous. 99% of people are running them as Dry kits, (NOS only, no fuel), but some are running wet with good results. The 6.0 really likes NOS, REALLY! LOL Water meth has not had a lot of luck in the 6.0, but the Cummins likes it. Propane is better for fuel economy then power, but it does add quite a bit of power too, but its a fuel so it gets pretty hot.
Yes this engine is going to be built pretty good. The 6.0 with just a tuner,(SCT) intake and exhaust is good for about 420ish HP and over 750 TQ. Add bigger injectors, a descent turbo, and you are well into 500, and pushing 600. The cool thing about the 6.0 is with about 1500.00 in mods you have a mid 13 second 8000# truck.
Thanks for the support guys. Once it really gets going, I'll post a link to the site where I am a moderator. For now we are trying to keep it a SEMI-secret, until it actually starts to take shape. Its not gonna be a quick build, I imagine, but its gonna be fun.
Imagine a ranger Ext cab, lowered in the front, with big drag slicks in the back, probably a diferent hood for clearance, and either coal black, or Viper red, with wheelie bars, running 10's with two short stacks just clearing the bed behind the cab pouring black smoke out. I can't wait, again, thanks for your support.

I got the weight from the certified scales at work - the FoMoCo test lab. Four wheel individual weight. These are the scales we use in certifying vehicle weights for testing, so they ARE accurate!
I do have to say, the 4520 included me (150 at the time), a fiberglass hard tonneau and a sinlge 12" speaker box. The truck had a stock explorer drivetrain at the time (no supercharger).
Brian has weighed his 2 door extended cab 1998 V8 2wd and it was just over 4000 from my recollection. Tony's 2wd explorer V8 2000 trailhead was the 3750. Sadly, the V8 powertrain really isn't all that much more weight than the stocker units. Most of the weight hit is in the 4R70W auto trans vs the 5R55E stocker trans.

I have power-nothing, no stereo, no spare, no tools/jack, a pair of sparcos instead of the 60/40, a roll loop, shaft loop, T5 Tranny, 4.0, Cobra wheels and with myself in the vehical, I just cleared 3,400.
These trucks are pigs in regards to weight.. but they can be lightened up. I WISH I would have done a STOCK weight reading before I went mod-happy.

Update:
Well I am actively looking at several trucks now. I have found several in the area, but haven't had much luck finding an Extended cab. Talked to the folks that built the Hypermax truck with the 6.0 and they confirmed the firewall had to be moved about 6 " aft. The tough thing is gonna be getting the intercooler and stuff to work. Thinking of going to a water to air cooler, and placing it inside the truck under the dash on the pass side. Also thinking a ford 9" is the way to go for the rearend. Its going to be light, so won't need to push much around. Thought about trying to run it DHRA prostock, but since the firewall has to be moved they said, UHHHHM, NO!
It is going to have a 12 point cage in it, that will help strengthen the frame, along with some serious reinforcement. Settled on a very glossy black, and everything except the wheels are going to be blacked out.
ANyway just wanted to update so you guys didn't think I was full of it, and just disappeared. I'll get some pics of the project truck when I get it.

Update again. I have a truck. Its a 2000 ext cab, and it was actually donated by a friend in Florida. I just have to get it from Florida to California. Shouldn't be too bad. Perfect body, 76000 miles, motor and tranny are perfect, although they won't be needed.
LOL NOw to find a ford 9 inch rearend.

if you are going to do it, do it right the first time and put in a Dana 80......MINIMUM a Dana 60....

a 9 inch is pretty much an 8.8 minus the fact that a 9 inch is 31 spline and maybe a bit thicker but not massively. obviously the axles are strong than a 8.8 due the spline count...i think its like 25% stronger but were talking huge torque, if we can snap axles with the 4.0 and 35s plus regeard just think about the nine inch with 650 ft lbs stock with slicks! those tires liek to hook and when you put that much torque to 1 1/2 thick axles (not exact) theyre gonna snap like pencils. i would strongly suggest to put a minimun d80 cuz you even said you wanna put other stuff to that engine to boost the hp and tq even more! i have the same idea as you do, to put a 6.0 in a ranger, but my project isnt going to start for a year or two so this is good for me that someone else is doing it. but i now im gonna run atleast d80 axles cuz i wanna keep my truck lifted, i know ill have to box my frame like mad, im gonna drill out all the rivets and use grade 8 bolts everywhere if not stronger. coils from the superduty and the buckets, shock towers, moving the firewall back etc...ill definatly be watching this thread.

Guys, the 9" will be fine when properly built. Currie enterprises is the place to go can get the stand by 35 spline or even 40 spline from them. Heck, you could build the axle from all their custom parts as well and just get a 100% new axle. There are plenty of race cars with more HP / TQ than we are talking here with giant sticky slicks running 9" axles.
