Is there a way - 5.0 w/5sp in an 03 ?
Is there a way - 5.0 w/5sp in an 03 ?
Is there an aftermarket harness that can be used in a 5.0L conversion ?
I want a 5-sp with my 5.0L and I do not think there is a 5.0 Ex with a 5-sp.
Is there any other way ?
There is one member on this site that is doing a 5-sp conversion from an auto and he has a 5.0L, maybe he will chime in.
thks ahead of time.

I read a thread earlier where someone stated they found an Explo with a manual in a junk yard.
Was posted in the last day or so.
Edit
Never mind ,that was for a 4.0.

It probably came from an Explorer Sport(2 door). I can remember wanting one.
Yes, you can do a 5sp with an explorer swap. BrianB31 did a tremec 5sp with an explorer engine in his 1998. He used all explorer wiring and pcm. He had the trans functions turned off by custom flash on his pcm.
Thks for the input.
I would like an Ex w/V8 and 5sp.
Then the computer would be right BUT if the auto trams can be turned off... Might work.
I will hav e to look into this.
I don't want an AWD setup, I need a 5 sp.

look here
If you want a manual transmission, the Borg Warner World Class T5 5-speed from a Mustang is the way to go. Since the T5 uses a mechanical clutch, you will need to install an external clutch slave cylinder to adapt to your original hydraulic clutch.

I guess the main thing to consider is the Computer, is there an Ex 5.0L w/5sp or as stated above can the auto trans function be turned off, I need to look into this more.
thks again for the info.
My ultimate goal is the 5.0L I now have with an NV4500/4.3 Atlas II setup.
I want to use some stuff I had from another project, it is just sitting there.
I asked in another thread about putting this stuff in the truck but my main concern as stated above is getting around the computer.

When you go to the Inspection Station wouldnt the inspector just look at the registration and note the year then inspect for safety only.
There would be no emission testing.
Not sure on this but that is what I was thinking would happen IF you were to change some number, but that is illegal and shouldnt be done
The inspection tech wouldnt know the difference, it say Ranger on the side.
Most of them are just Minimum Wage people and could care or even know less.
Maybe I can do the paperwork and then just say well it was registered that way in WI. Lol.
Still are MA, it will raise an eyebrow if the person doing the inspection is any good and know trucks.
