04 Edge SuperCab speaker upgrade
I've got the Pioneer 290w CD6/mp3 system and want to upgrade the sound quality. I need help with the following:
How many speakers do I have? (I think 5)
What type of speakers are in the doors? (single cone, coaxial)
Are they 4 ohm?
What size are the door speakers?
Can I replace the subwoofer? (speaker only)
Has anyone done this? Was it worth it? The system currently works fine but the sound quality is average at best. Didn't really want to replace the entire system yet but figured I could start with the upgrading the speakers.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You have 4 speakers in your truck.
I think you are getting your speaker types confused.
Your truck does not have a subwoofer in it currently unless you have the Tremor. You can add a subwoofer to any system.
My personal recommendation would be to replace all 4 door speakers, then run a sub/amp combo as well.

I'm not confused. There is a subwoofer in the full length console. However, it doesn't sound all that great (but better than nothing).
Update,
I initially replaced the front door speakers which consisted of a 5 inch woofer and a 2 inch tweeter w/crossover. I replaced them with 4 way Pioneer 6x8's which didn't improve the sound quality! I reinstalled the factor front door speakers and replaced the rear 6x8's which only had wizzer cone (no tweeter) with the 4 ways and this slightly improved the highs / mid range but not by a lot. I've come to the conclusion that, for a stock system in 04, it sounds pretty good, but the only way to really upgrade the sound is to replaced everything! Don't waste your time or money upgrading the stock system ..

So you do have a Tremor, that would have been a better way to start this thread.
So you already have the upgraded stock system. At least compared to all non Tremor Rangers, so you aren't going to get much better than what you have.
Sound quality comes from sound processing, which is the headunit. Upgrade to a decent headunit and your stock speakers will sound much better, but I agree, the best upgrade is to replace everything
