Here are a couple pictures of the new shallow mount Kicker 10'' in a custom box. Its covered in gray vinyl. My old L7 box was too big and left my passanger's feeling cramped. This box fits under the small ledge behind the passanger seat. I will get another one built for the drive side sometime since it does not effect leg room. I am 6'1'' and enjoy my seat reclined as far back as possible.

Size comparison. The new box is on the right hand side. Both are 10'' subs.


Built to fit under the ledge for an extra inch, yes I cut out the back carpet piece.


I am happy with it and hopefully my passengers will be too. Now its time to get some low back seats built.

2 10" JK W3's and alpine Mrs-850 in a customized super crew sound ranger box

 

Here is what's in mine right now. I was shooting for the cheapest set up I could manage. The wood was all scrap but it was 3/4" so.....

I think total airspace is around 1cu ft. The amp is bridged for the sub. The other 2 ch run the front 4x6's. There is a built in x-over so it helps keep the bass from blowing the front stage out.

Could someone tell me how to add the pic's instead of attachments that need to be clicked?

 

what dimension boxes have you guys who have put single 10's behind the seat used? and how far back will your seat go back? I am hoping to add a 10 with a amp under the set to save space, i want the bass but also the space... I like the MTX molded boxes but not their price, i am handy with building things but i am nervous about the dimensions and the seats, my trucks a regular cab 2006. Or are there any boxes/ powered set ups (other than basslink) that you guys know fit fell? i do not want to go witha dinky litttle swlim thing or a bazooka, just a nice 10 while still preserving my seat and storage space. is that even possible?

 

My son has the truck at work right now so I can't measure exactly, but...

The box is sealed and is wedge shaped. I removed the carpet from the back of the cab and put some dynamat on it. Left and right, the box goes from the edges of the plastic panels that hold the rear speakers. On my Ranger, these speakers are against the back wall, not on the sides. It's around 32" I think. The bottom is about 9", which is the deapth of that little "shelf" behind the seats. The top of the box stops about 1" or so from the rear window. I cut the pieces using cardboard templates then used liquid nails to fix them to the cab wall. I used expanding foam in all hollow spots of the cab wall to help seal as well as try to help deaden it. The top and side pieces are 1/2" thick I think with the face beind 3/4". I nailed a few supports that run from L to R that brace the sides. For the outside of the box, Krylon camo tan was used on the sides since it matches the carpet color pretty good and isn't really seen anyway. The factory back wall carpet was used for the front. I also painted the grill. Since my sub is really deep, it sits at the bottom of the box. With the arm rest down, you see less than half the sub. I think I am only missing the very last "click" to make the seat go all the way back, but it leans back very well. The amp is mounted behind the passenger side with the jack behind the driver. Both are mounted verticle. I am playing with the idea of cutting the factory panels to remake the box and remount the amp and jack. Not sure yet.

 

Clarion shallow mount 10" sub, cheap tiny box from a local place, alpine mrp-m450 I had sitting in the garage. No loss of seat travel and it's nice and punchey. The box end up being off-level, so the carpet cut isn't snug, but it looks good enough. I still have to hide the power and ground wires since they are visible with the arm rest down. I'll probably just wrap them in split loom and run liquid electrical tape over all the terminals (to black them out).

Ok I am making a request for pictures of 12" subs in regular cab rangers. No 10"s or 8"s. Has anybody made/bought a box small enough for it to be able to fit behind the drivers seat without taking up much room? I have my 12 in now but its centered between the two seats and space is somewhat of an issue. SOOO Pics of 12" setups... GO!!

i was looking for my pic of my 2 12in set up. but i don't have it i don't think...but the sonic electronics box is fairly good. for size wise for single cabs. my only issue is having 2 amps along with mine. :P

I have a 12" sub right in the middle of the little space I have. I love it! its loud but idk if its loud enuff for you?

 

Thats where mine is also but I want to move it to a more inconspicuous place.. out of the way so I can through sh*t in the space where the sub is. Basically I want to put the sub behind the seat. Just wanna see other guys setups.

Lets start at the top. My music is exclusively of the iPod. So it had to be given its own place in the overhead console. The mic is for the Bluetooth



This is also one of two 5-inch monitors. The other is in the passenger side visor



The HU is an Alpine iDA X303. It is strickly an iPod player. It also has Bluetooth Audio, I can wirelessly play music from my iPod Touch. Also notice the center channel speaker under the ashtray.





Behind the seat is a Polk Audio DX10 and a Kenwood 4-channel amp. It powers the sub and the door speakers. The amp in the kick panel powers the center channel.

I think one of the biggest mistakes we make is we amp the sub and nothing else. Deck power may work with a tweeter, but not for me. Everything is powered by an amp in my truck

This amp powers the Polk Audio DX3000 tweeters.

Ya, I know, that amp is a small Sony. I glued the kenwood name on it



The add on tweeter worked but it did not have enough presence. I fixed it by building my own croosover. The Polk Crossover (on the bottom) was a 12dB per octave at 6000Hz. Mine (the top one) is an 18dB per octave at 5000Hz. Wow, What A Difference.

Scrambler82, I made that Kick Panel and that fiberglass box. The fiberglass box in my Ranger is the first fiberglass box I made. It was also made before I had a digital camera. I have a couple regular pictures, if I find them, I'll scan them into the computer and post them

how is the sound quality streaming through bluetooth?

Its actually really good. It really suprised me how good, but the digital connection is still better. The bluetooth connection is still MUCH better than using the headphone jack and an aux in.
