Quick question

I have a 94 b2300 with a 2.3 sohc. Id like to put the dohc anx a 6 speed. If I was to get one from another ranger would it be a direct dolt in? Or would there be some Fab work thats needs to be done?

No, not direct bolt in, its a different engine so different motor mounts

Would be a bit of work, basically the same as swapping in a V8

Not sure it would be a good swap since it would be cheaper and easier to sell the 1994 and buy 2002-2011 2.3l DOHC Duratec Ranger

What 6-speed manual did you have in mind?
I didn't think there was a rear wheel drive 6-speed that fit the 2.3l Mazda L/Duratec?

I cant get rid of the 94 im too attached lol. Ill probably end up keeping the 2.3 was just having compression issues. I was thinking about a 6 speed out of a mustang with an adapter plate if needed. Just want that extra gear plus changing the gearing in the diff. Id like a little more power out of the 2.3 but I read its not that easy. I'm limited on money but I have plans for a show/ daily truck

Nice look Ranger

Watch ebay and craigslist for a turbo 2.3l

Problem with the rear wheel drive 6-speed is that the shifter will come up thru the floor at about the middle of the drivers seat, so custom shift arm for sure
But if you are doing custom work you may be able to move engine/trans forward, and use an electric fan, but thats only a few inches

Oh i see. Well that would be something done later then lol.
I was looking into a set of piston and rods for sale out of a turbo coupe, would I have to bore the block? I dont mind having it done but this is the first time over had it done. When I have it bored would I make it bored out to the piston size or slightly larger for piston rings?
id like to make it as cost efficient as possible while making it strong enough to take a little boost. I intend to mega squirt it and have the whole truck on switches

Depends on the new piston size and condition in cylinders when you pull out the old pistons
You should wait to see what the cylinders look like before getting pistons
Because you may have to bore them out, so you would get larger pistons

The walls in the block look perfect. Barely any wear for how many miles it has. I'm just not sure what size the pistons are coming from the coupe. My bore size is 3.650 if i remember right. Give or take it's a little bit off with miles. I found them on ebay but they don't list any specs on them, only thing it says it's from an 87 to 88 turbo coupe.
Im going to have the block and head sent to the machine shop to be reworked. I onow the stock piston and rods wont be able to take boost but I've read that the crank should be fine under low boost (not looking for anything extreme).
