28 spline to 31 Spline?

I have a 28 Spline 8.8 under my truck with 5.13's. Been snappin shafts. I also have a 31 Spline expo axle. They are both drum. Is there any way to swap the 5.13 ring gear into the 31 Spline or is the carrier completely different.

I don't see why they would be different if they're both 31 spline.

i don't think either of you grasped the question fully...

anthony, you are saying that you have a 28 spline 8.8 with 5.13's on your truck. you also have a 8.8 with other gears 31 spline, out of an expo. and you would like to know if your 5.31 gears from the 28 spline will fit on the carrier of the 31 spline? then put the whole expo rear end on your truck?

they should fit, as 8.8 is the ring gear measurements, however i am not 100% sure...

I guess what I should have said was that since they're both 8.8's they should fit no problem.

Is the expo open or L/s? If its limited slip an you want a locker in there then you need an open carrier.

But all 8.8 gears will work in all 8.8's. Same as 9 inchers

They are both 8.8's, so you can swap the 5.13 gears.
