4.10 gears
4.10 gears
I have 2011 ranger with FX4 package comes with 4.10 gears and limited slip is a normal gear ratio for 4x4 or just FX package and why did ford choose to go this route, can I change the gears The harryee
Many came with 4:10. My 05 Edge has it. The truck’s target buyer was active people; sporty people who go out and do things. The transmission should have the high gear to compensate. Mine has 5, the last being o.d.
You can change the ratio but you must also change the front diff too.
Setting a new set of gears could be time consuming, sometimes assembling all then finding improper tooth pattern. That requires removing everything, pressing off the pinion bearing, and making a change in shims, according to what u saw. Then complete reassemble to test tooth pattern again.
If you do this, i would recommend the new crush sleeve eliminator kit.
How many speeds in your tranny ?

Welcome to the forum
Yes, FX4 off road came with larger diameter tires so a 4.10 ratio would be appropriate, for best road and off road performance
Are you after better MPG with highway driving?
