hanging brakes & gas mileage

I've got a 2000 4x4 (4.0 w/ auto) who's gas mileage has sank like the value of the dollar over the last few months. Friday, the wife was driving it and called me when she heard a wierd noise coming from the rear of the truck along with some bucking. Long story short, one of the brake shoes (what was left of it anyway) separated from the bracket and wedged itself in pretty good. Given by how bad the shoes on that side were worn vs. the other side (better than 75% of the padding left) its safe to say it looks like the brakes were dragging on that side. Any rough ideas on how much that would affect gas mileage? Surely it would pull it down some...
