but itsnt the orignal spindle nut with the key enough?

If you looked at post #4 I gave you a link to the Spicer nut kit for only $23 that's what I used and that is exactly the kit that comes on the factory 4x4's with manual hubs.

"Vehicles with automatic locking hubs that have 3 screws holding the chrome cap on must use this kit to convert to manual hubs. This is mostly limited to 1995 and 1996 Fords with factory automatics, but could include others. This kit is also required on 90-94 Explorer and 90-97 Ranger when converting factory automatic hubs to manual hubs."

They are on my truck and work like a charm.

Ok I've gone thru pages and pages over the last few weeks and on and off throughout the years....

Backstory:
I just got a 1 owner who owned a ford dealership, 2002 FX4 WITH twin sticks...and life is good.

I want to convert it to manual hubs using Mile Marker (or anything lately better???) hubs on the factory Alcoa wheels and I cant seem to get an answer if the hubs will fit thru the center hole. It seems the hub caps can be modded etc I just would like definitive answers and/or how involved it would be to make it work while keeping a somewhat factory look.

Now don't kill the messenger I'm a avid XJ owner with a stroked, 5.5 hub trussed locked, snorkeled yadayada so I do know alittle bit about the pitfalls of converting to the 98-2000 hubs but as I'm not going over 31-33's and really its not going to get modded too much as its clean as hell.... its more I need to haul and tow stuff and I like having 2low which is the point here.

Resurrect from the dead but it seems to go here...

Welcome to the forum

The AVM manual hubs can be made to work, but you need new CV axles plus a few other parts, read here: https://therangerstation.com/Magazin...nversion.shtml

Since the front axles are bolted to the hubs there is no other way if you want manual hubs
Your current live axles are stronger than manual hubs will be, if that matters, and IMO better in the long run because front end parts are always turning, staying lubed, instead of sitting for 8 months or longer and then being used cold and DRY when finally used

The 1998 and up Ranger wheels will not fit on 1997 and older Ranger 4x4 because center hole is too small
AVM(mile marker) hubs only fit 1998-2000 Ranger 4x4s, stock, so hole size shouldn't be an issue on 2002 converted to 1998-2000 front hubs
