Leak between transmission and transfer cass

I just bought a 2001 Ranger, automatic 4x4. Once
I got it home after a day or two I noticed transmission fluid on the drive way. I drove it some and found there was no streaking and could see right where it was coming from where the transmission mates to the transfer case. I was told the transmission was replaced about 10,000 miles ago and figured maybe it was the seal between the two. When I took it apart i found fluid coming from a weap hole in the transmission. I’ve never seen a transmission like this so not sure if it should be coming from here or not. Any help and advice would be super helpful!!!

2001 will have the 5R44E(3.0l) or 5R55E(4.0l engine) but they are basically the same.

Have a look at the color of the transfer case ATF it is often a darker color because it hasn't been changed in awhile, lol, just to see if its transmission ATF or transfer case ATF.

Yes, I think there is a seal behind the Parking Pawl, what we see in your picture
But don't know for sure

I am only familiar with the transfer case on the manual transmission. The area between the transfer case and transmission should be dry. Both the transmission and the transfer case have a seal to keep fluid out of that area. That weep hole is there to let you know if one of the seals is leaking. I would think automatics would be similar in this area but I don't know that.
