Which transmission do I have?

I've got a 1988 XLT Supercab 2WD 2.3 with a 5 speed manual transmission and I need to change the fluid in the tranny but I'm not sure what I've got for a tranny and whether it needs 80-90 gear oil or ATF fluid. I've read that there should be a label on the door frame which should tell me but there's nothing there. Anybody know exactly what I've got?

1988 2wd will have the M5OD-R1(M5R1) 5-speed manual, which uses ATF, 2.8quarts bone dry so just over 2quarts with drain and refill usually
15/16" drain and fill plug bolt heads

M5R1 is a Top loader so has no "pan" on the bottom, if you see a pan on the bottom that can be unbolted then its NOT an M5R1
