Transmission problems

I have a 99 4x4 3.0 flex fuel Auto. Just recently within the past week I noticed my trans was slipping sometimes between shifts. I added some Lucas and didn't help much. NOW the big problem. Knowing I was having trans problems I let my brother talk me into some off roading yesterday. I got hung up and was rocking the truck to get loose. I got loose and put the truck in park. When I was leaving I put the truck in D and it wouldn't move. I pulled it into second and it worked. Now when I drive it it has no first gear. I have to put it into 2 to take off then can upshift to D but as soon as I slow down and it kicks into first gear it won't move. So any ideas what I may have done besides totally F up my transmission. Hopefully I can take it real easy on the truck until I can get it to a shop to have it checked out.

I have a '94 ranger V6 auto 4.0L. Should I rebuild or find one that's indecent shaped and pulled out. I don't have the most money at the moment. I would actually be willing to do it myself ifi could rebuild it. How much does a rebuild kit run and is it worth it. Never messed with tranny's before. Could be fun and HARD

You might want to check this thread before dumping $$$ on another tranny.

I took it to a tranny guy and he drove it around a little bit and said he believes I have broken something inside th tranny and it would cost around $1500 to get rebuilt. I only payed $1800 for the truck. :( Hopefully he gets into it and finds out that it isn't that bad after all but I'm sure it's toast. I was pretty hard on it when it broke. But it sure was fun tearing it up.

So I finally got my truck back. $1611 later. I only payed $1800 for the truck when I bought it. :( Now a day after getting it back the speedo quit working and my door chime will NOT quit with the key removed from the ignition. I hoping it's just a fuse or something simple and the two are related.

Wow o n the trans...
The door chime can be fixed with some WD 40 sprayed in the latch.

Never ever rock a truck back and forth for more than about 10 seconds. I've taken apart multiple ranger transmissions where the customer did this, and it COMPLETELY destroys the clutch bands, drums, and internal friction discs. The drums were warped, and we had to pound the discs out of it, and all the friction discs on the inside that are supposed to come out one by one? yea, they were one giant brick, all welded together. Couldn't separate them no matter how hard i tried.
