SAS a 2wd?

SAS a 2wd?
Just curious, how hard would it be to SAS my 99 2wd? I have really been thinking about it lately. I know you might say just buy a 4x4 but to me that is just not fun. I plan on taking welding classes this summer break. I dont have to really worry though about the real major welding because my grandpa can do it since he was a welder for 50 years. I just honestly want your guys opinions on it. I have been doing alot of research on here lately on what people have been doing.
If I did do it, it would not be this summer but the next won probably. But, I would like to start getting the parts that I want together so I can be ready. I do not want to go full length axles and would like to stick to something that is close to the width of an 8.8 or so. What kind of transfer case? I want manual case and a manual trans. Just wondering, I can't reuse my trans that I have now can I? Steering components?

I guess you could in theory run a divorced t case if you want to re-use your original trans.
As for the front axle, you could get a Waggy 44, or if your not going all that big (33's and below) there is a possibility for a D30, and the jeep guys are usually giving them away.
You will have to gear the **** out of it if you want it to perform at all off-road. Look into dual t-cases, and some really low gears.
It is completely possible, you have to ask yourself if it is worth doing.

But it also (a lot) depends on the type of wheeling you do.

well if i did this id be the first one to test and see if our 2wd ranger coil buckets will work with the d44 and i do just muddin with some flexing threw washouts kinda like my avatar but im never hard on my rangers i just give it enough gas to get threw whatever... i just wana run 38's with just a suspension lift im still not diggin the body lifts yet but i have a 3.0 so itd have issues with 38's without a dout so id probly upgrade to a 302 after i got the suspension done id have to run it as a 2wd till i got the 302 in their an get a custom from drive shaft made by clutch products and get the d44 gears to 4.56's to match the rear
last question are the d44's 5on4.5 bolt pattern?
