Icon4 wierd thump when letting off the gas

ok i know it might be in here but i dont have time to look. i ave till Wed. to get this fixed. due to the fact the i go in for surgiry and will be off my feet for two weeks.

this started happening a day ago, as im going down the road and fully let off the gas without pushing in the clutch i get a small thump or pop from the rear of the truck.

i dont know if its the pinion bearing or what. i was under it and didnt find anythin loose.

anyone got an idea???

is it happening only as soon as you let off the gas or when you let off the gas and then step on the gas again?

Mine does this too when I let off the gas and the step on it again, hard or softly. They looked at the U-Joints last time I was in the shop and they said they looked fine.

Also, when im stopped and then begin accellorating, there is a squeeking sound comming from the back end until it changes into 2nd gear. And it only makes the sound when I accellorate. If i let off the gas it stops. Any ideas? Sorry for the thread jack.

if you dont have a signature you need to make one with your truck specs makes answering questions alot easier

Try replicating the problem doing different things. 4wd engaged, reverse, etc... 5spd or auto? TC could be going t!ts up if it's an auto...

Huh, I guess U-Joints it is because it does make a squeeking sound when taking off. Now is this something someone can do in a driveway with a couple tool sets mixed together? Or should it be done professionally?

When mine where making those sounds they where so bad I am suprised it didn't leave me stranded.

You can do it with some basic tools and a hammer, but if you never done it before I suggest seaking help from someone that has.

Alrighty, took my baby to the shop today and got both U-Joints replaced. No more squeeking, no more clunking in the back end, and no more deep vibration between 60 and 65 mph.

Thanks guys.

Glad you figured it out.

I was going to say mine does it when I got a full tank of fuel. I think it's called fuel slop. The gas hits the top of the tank with a slap i guess.
