first how about some info on the truck then just saying i have a 3.0L...thanks.

now why in heck would you want to down grade to a 2.3L turbo now granted its a turbo but no. if you want fast and good power reliable and not bad gas millage go with a 302 mustang motor its quite simple to swap into the trucks and fits great. or if its a beleave 2002 and newer 3.0L you could put on the whipple supercharger and have Doug made you a tuner for the computer and you will be screwing fast for a ranger

I may just be misreading something, but you said you wanted to put the motor in when you got home right? You said you are in Iraq, and home is Germany? Just trying to get a grasp on that.

Anyways, 95 is a good year to do a 302/5.0 swap. V8 > turbo 4cyl!

I would rather use the motor from a Turbo Coupe. You can get them with a few years less on them and there are more Turbo Coupes. And i believe it was slightly different with a little more power or better EFI. I'm to lazy to look right now to find the exact differences.

I really don't know why most people on this site bash the turbo lima. I've heard the svo is better because of the cam or somethin' like that..but couldn't tell u for sure. For the swap you'll need to swap the motor mounts...dunno if the tranny will work or not but im sure you will atleast have to swap the bellhousing and all that junk. I you want to keep you a/c you'll have to flip the header or get an aftermarket one. You'll alos need all sorts of sensors as well as the wiring harness and ecu from a turbo 2.3 car. Wiring will suk since you have a 95...but you'll have a turbo ranger :D

yep you read that right......im in the air force currently at balad, iraq but im stationed at ramstein germany..........orginally from missouri LOL anyway the reason im looking for info on this is cause 4cyl = cheap gas, v8 = to much gas............... my truck is in germany with me.........and ive still got at least another year and a half there.....so i got the time as for money ive made somewhere around $6000 in the 4 months ive been over here and looking to get somewhere in the ball park of $2000 when i get back..... if i dont do the swap i at least need to get rid of the speed limiter....... correct me if im wrong but doesent bamachips.com have chips for my truck 95 3.0, im still looking into the svo and im starting to lean towards it more then ever now that ive read all this.......yes i know its going to be alot of work but what else do i have to spend my money on LOL i sure as hell cant take it with me when i die but anyway is there anyone out there that has done this or something like it......a parts list or a FAQ would be great........... o yea for all that wants to know it really sucks over here in iraq LOL and "haji" is really starting to **** me off with the 6am morters, rat bastards cant even let me sleep in on my one day off a week LOL

Dude, go for the svo swap that would be awesome!!

could you do us a favor and make a signature, using the user CP function... if you have time. that way we dont have to refer back to this thread to get your specs.

sounds like you have the time, and the money. got any other expenses? when do you get back to Germany?
