2001 Ranger...leveling question

Hello All,

First post here, trying to gain some knowledge from more knowledgable people, before deciding how to move forward.

Basically, I want to level amd older lifted truck.

Background: 01 ranger xlt supercab, stepside, 4x4 4.0, 130k, inherited from father in law. Love the truck, slowly looking to repair/upgrade overtime without spending 10k on a truck thatll never be worth that. Im capable of most the basic pieces, and would prefer to do them myself, but some of the more technical aspects ill hire out.

Problem: Truck currently has 5.5 inches of lift (I believe). A 3 inch body and a 2.5 inch suspension from the factory. (It has the bump blocks kn the rear leafs). It also has that classic forward tilt, by about 1.75 inches approx, that i want gone.

Options (i think) are to rip everything out and just install a 5 inch RC susp lift ($2k to hire out!), or about ($400) to install a torsion key leveling i kit. Those two i would probably take it to a shop for. And with the factory lift, im not sure a torsion key would even work. So these options im not too keen on. Id love to spend 2k on a full suspension install, but im not sure my wife would sign off on that.

Last option i was debating (if even possible), was instead of raising the front 1.5 inches, is lowering the back end by that amount by replacing the bumpblocks (2.75 inches) with 1 or 1.5 inch blocks. This would be cheapest and i can do myself, if viable. Maybe more if i have to replace the shocks (theyre due anyway). Shouldnt effect tire clearance, i believe.

Wanted the insight if more experienced people before pushing ahead.

Thanks for any help!

Yes, using different height blocks between axle and leaf spring would be the easiest and most economical, they come in pretty much any height needed

If the U-bolts are older just cut them off and use new, they are not that expensive

I agree, shorter blocks in the rear is a great way to go if the front lift works well. I understand tall rear axle blocks are not as stable and could give you some problems over time.
