I want to swap the engine from a 2003 Ranger into a 2003 B4000.
Both engines are 4.0, but the donor truck is 4WD, receiving truck is 2WD, and I need to swap the trans, also.
Would this be a "plug and play" swap, and would there be any big issues in converting the 4WD trans into 2WD?
I can't find a shop that wants to do the job, so I am going to have to do it myself.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You can swap the engines, plug and play
You can NOT swap the 2WD/4WD transmissions

If automatics then it would need a full rebuild to swap main shafts to change it to or from 2WD, might as well just rebuild the correct transmission
Manual needs partial tear down to change output shafts

Much better to sell the "working" 2WD or 4WD transmission and use that money to buy the correct 2WD or 4WD transmission

2003 4.0l can only use 2001-2011 4.0l manual or automatic, just FYI
