Welcome to the forum

It would depend on your Engine(power band) and tire diameter to decide what the best ratio would be

Also use, i.e. primary around town or highway driving
And load hauling or trailer hauling frequency

Lower ratio number lowers Engine RPMs at same speed, so good for MPG on highway but also lowers off the line power for hauling
High ratio number raise engine RPMs at same speed, so lower MPG on highway but better for hauling loads

Larger diameter tires lowers "actual ratio"
say you have 28" diameter tires and a 3.73 ratio
And you changed to 30" tires, the 3.73 ratio would now "act like" a 3.55 ratio

If you had 28" tires and changed to 26", the 3.73 ratio would "act like" 4.00 ratio

What is your driving style and the wheels that you are running?

If you do most highway the 3::55 is the way to go. I have a 3:73 posi with stock tires and it works well for quick accelerations in the city.
If you have oversized tires and go off road 3:73 and up is preferable, listen to RonD. Good advice.
