The only thing people say to me about my truck is, "What does it get for gas mileage?"

Thats why you get less than 14.
My moms brand new Buick gets the same milage as my truck because she only drives it back and forth to work during the week. she works about 2 miles away from the house.
you need to take that on a trip and get the MPG's back up

Going on a trip won't solve the part where work is 2 miles away. The mileage won't get better just cuz you went on a trip and logged a bunch of miles.

It'll get the MPG's back up the longer you drive it without shutting if off.
Over the summer, we took my Mothers car to our cabin up north. When we left the house, the computer in the car said she was getting an average 15ish MPG.
On the way up, the computer started to read more in the 20's and when i reset it on the way home, it got around 33 MPG on the highway
