I’m looking for my first Ranger ever and was looking for info on what some of the best years for Rangers were, and what years to stay away from. A lot of “help me” threads seem to be post 2002 model year. Got my heart set on 90-97 2.3L 2WD.

 

25 to 30 year old vehicles it doesn't matter anymore if it was a reliable/best truck at one time.

On that old it's all going to depend on it's maintenance history.

 

1990-1992 and 1993-1997 are different trucks. These are the least desirable in my opinion since the cabs are smaller than the 98+ trucks. The Supercabs are a little better, but still feel smaller than 98+.

Obviously that doesn't matter if you're on the shorter side, but 5'10" and above be warned.
