Water leaking on the passenger side when it rains

Water leak on passenger side when it rains just wondering if it would be the door seals/weatherstripping or something else
I've siliconed some place that i thought it was leaking from but it still leaks whenever it rains
took a garden hose to it but couldn't see any leaks from the inside of the truck
2007 ranger sport extended cab
please reply with some suggestions

First place is the doors because its easy to test
Window up, open a door, run hose on outside of window
Should see water leaking out bottom of door thru 3 drain holes, these should be checked now and then to prevent door rusting from the inside out
Check BOTH doors, you will often HEAR a sloshing sound if these drains get clogged

Next is Cowl Vent drains
Put hose on cowl vent(in front of windshield) passenger side, water should run out just in front of passenger side door
Repeat but on drivers side
These vents can be clogged by debris falling inside the cowl, usually organic, i.e. leaves and ****, lol, cowl is not removable, so a PITA to clean out
Passenger side under cowl is the Fresh air Intake for the blower, its about 1" above bottom tray of cowl area but if there is enough water coming in...............

If vehicle has AC then clogged Evaporator drain will leak into passenger side
AC is always on, even in winter
The Evaporator is in the engine bay blower housing, in the summer it cools the air AND DRYS the air, in winter it just dries the air
You may have noticed vehicles with AC drip water just behind passenger side tire just below Blower housing/Evaporator, then the moisture it has "condensed" from the incoming outside air, this helps prevent cab from smelling Musty

The drain is actually inside the cab, passenger side and has a drain tube that comes out of the firewall just below Blower housing, often hard to see, but its there
If drain gets plug tray will overflow and spill water out on passenger side
Can be unplugged using a bendable electrical wire push in from firewall drain end of tube

3rd brake light on rear top of cab
Very common leak point but usually shows up as wet floor on Drivers side first then passenger side later, but really depends on how the truck is parked most of the time when its raining, if it tilted to passenger side then...............
Most Rangers are tilted to drivers side because of gas tank weight
Run hose on 3rd brake light
Or just remove it and look for moisture inside

Windshield seal
2007 is way to early for rusted out lower windshield trough but could happen
Windshield is mounted and sealed to a ridge, on the outside edge of the ridge is a trough, the trough is what the windshield moulding is in
At lower edges/corners of the trough water will collect, no drain for that
Over the years these corners can rust thru, and that goes directly into the cab
If you remove passenger side kick panel and look up you will see signs, water trails, of a leak
Or run the hose on windshield passenger side

I'm chasing down a similar leak and just cleaned out the cowl. Let me point you to a couple of links that might be useful.

note in the youtube link above - it is very easy to remove that box with the relays. Facing from the driver's side fender, there are two clips on the box that hold it to the metal mount below. Pull the tabs, slide the box up and off, and you can move the entire box forward near the radiator. Much better clearance to remove the screws on the panel to the firewall, and now the box is out of the way to keep water from getting in.

Been using a full truck cover ever since I bought the truck and learned it leaked water into the cab, soaking both the drivers and passenger front carpets. (had been garaged by previous owner - no wonder!)

Finally cleaned out the cowl area per the posts above. Included pulling out the top of the passenger fender to get the cowl clear of debris. Used a garden hose to flush out the cowl in both directions to verify things were draining.

When pulling the fender free, discovered there is a small plastic cup on the bottom of the fender by the door. There are drain holes in the cups, but they were 100% filled with crap, almost like rock dust, so cleaned out both of those.

Also poked around the bottom corners of the windshield where RonD says the frame can rust out, but didn't find any holes. This was easier than expected to check, although the rubber around the windshield was hard as a rock and, as Ron has also pointed out, don't use metal tools around the glass. IF there had bee a leak there, I imagine it would have been fairly easy to seal up.

My oldest kid has been driving the truck while we repair his car, and we've left the vehicle uncovered a few times now. She's been through two massive thunderstorms and so far, so good.

If you find this thread because your floors are wet, I say give cleaning a go. Two hours work may solve your problem and not cost you a penny.
