Icon5 What Locker Do I Need?

i have a pretty much bone stock 94 supercab with a 4.0, a4ld, and an open 8.8 with 3.08s. the issue is it's a 2wd, and i live in the wonderful state of pennyslvania, and having an open diff sucks ***. would this work for my truck? i'm looking for cheap lockers that would work but not destroy my budget. my old girl is nearing 200k and i don't wanna spend like $800, but getting stuck on grass less would be nice. i just don't know what spine my junk is or anything, and i could use a little help. thanks guys

You need something for a 28 spline 8.8.

1993 thru 2009 Ranger or Mazda B-series 8.8" with limited slip(L/S), they are plug and play
From a 2WD or 4x4 doesn't matter or manual or automatic
3.73 ratio would be my suggestion

car-part.com

Good place to search for local used parts
Part you want is "axle assy rear(w. housing)" <<< swapping the whole 3rd member is easier for most than swapping just the differential
enter zipcode and Search

It will then ask size and ratio, thats up to you

The found parts will say "posi", L/S" or "limited slip" if thats what they are, if you don't see that then they are OPEN, what you already have

If you are not sure what size brakes are on the rear
Have a look at the 4th post here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/drivet...m-size-135609/

It will say it in the description

Some may list a Ford code, as seen here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...le_codes.shtml
Letter/number is L/S
number/number is OPEN

i.e.
R6 is 3.73 L/S
96 is 3.73 OPEN

Explorer rear axles require cutting and welding of spring perches and shock mounts to fit in a Ranger
