Hello, thank you for clicking on this thread. I am a 16 year old who is interested in swapping the gears in my 1996 Ranger SXT 4.0. Long story short, this was my grandfathers truck, and when he passed it got passed down to me as my first vehicle. I did a top end rebuild and a few other things and now it runs like a champ. It's a quick little truck, but I'm interested in swapping the rear gears. it currently has a 3.73 ratio and i'm thinking about a 4.30. i do mostly city driving with it and i haul around a lot of quads/snowmobiles etc. I also like to race my friends . Anyways, whether it will make a big improvement or not, I am interested in learning about gear swapping. I'm a pretty quick learner. I understand that With the four wheel drive i will have to do some work with the front as well? Although I don't often have to use four wheel drive. Anyways, I have an 8.8 with 3.73s in it currently. I'm looking for 4.30 gears. If anyone has any knowledge and what gears to purchase that would be Outstanding. Thank you
