I got an 01 Ranger ext. cab xlt off a farm auction for $4150. It really wasn’t in very bad shape, payed for a full detailing inside and out and at 185k miles (the odometer doesn’t work, it says 181k miles) I’ve replaced the sealed wheel bearing, brake caliper, fuel pump, filter, vacuum line, cleaned MAF and IAC, done things like replace headlights, etc... and now it gets alright MPGs for a 4.0 and starts the first crank on cold... on the interior, I added a stereo and mats and it’s really a mint truck now. Anyway, THE PROBLEM IS I haven’t figured out how to get the cargo lights to turn on (the 2 bulbs beside the brake light in the high mount light) and they are the same bulb so they should all be compatible with each other. The dome light won’t turn on at all either with the door open ( but the switch is removed from the light)(the door alarm sounds when the keys are in the ignition, so I wouldn’t think its a door switch issue). I have tried everything to my knowledge, fuses, relays... and the dimmer switch doesn’t lock all the way up to turn on those lights. Is it supposed to do that on my Ranger? Because I have pushed it up as hard as I can and it only brightens the dashboard lights and and does not snap up like other Ford pickups dimmer switches usually do.... any help?
