94 2.3 4 cylinder engine swap for a 96 2.3

Ok so i got a 94 mazda b2300 2.3L 22 had it maybe 5 weeks and the motor went. So i got a 96 mazda b2300 2.3l motor and droped it in and found out the crank and cam sencers are different. The 94 wiring and sencer are 4 wire for the crank and 3 wire for cam.but the 96 sencers are a two wire sencer . Is there any wiring combination to make this work .or should i just take it back out and keep hunting for a motor

Not sure if this is possible (it is on the 3 liters), but can you take the sensors off the 94 engine and mount them on the 96 ?
That way you can leave the wiring harness as is in the 94.

The only way that would be possibly is if i drilled and taped the 2 holes in the block to mount the crank shaft sencer and i dont know enough about the block to do that and i would half to take out the gear that the two wire sencer runs on . So i could get the harmonic balancer on

It was an option, but obviously not practical.

Then then the whole harness and PCM would have to be changed out, more then likely.

Probably best to hunt for another engine.

Someone with more experience with the 2.3 liters is needed here too.
There may be a way, but I'm not familiar enough with the 2.3 liter to advise you anymore.

EDIT:
What went wrong with the other engine ?
It's the one with the timing belt and not the chain, so much easier and less costly to repair.

No, you are kind of screwed
1994 and earlier 2.3l engines had different front cover on the engine than 1995-1997 2.3l, earlier used a Hall Effect crank sensor, later used Variable Reluctance sensor
Earlier computer is 60 wire EEC-IV, it only "speaks" Hall effect
Later computer(1995 and up) is 104 wire EEC-V, and only "speaks" Variable Reluctance
So changing computer is off the table, unless you want to change whole wiring harness and add another O2 sensor

So there is no wiring or converters for it, they are different kinds of crank sensors

Since you have both engines you may be able to measure the placement of the 3 wire 1994 sensor and drill mounting holes for it on the 1996 engine, it must be EXACT or engine will not work well.

Selling the 1996 engine and getting a 1994 or earlier, or rebuilding current 1994 would be best solution
