96 ranger doesn’t move in any gear

Check 4th gear specifically, its a direct connection, input shaft to output shaft no gears used
If it moves in 4th then input shaft gear and counter shaft gear is bad, can re-build but cheaper to replace with used transmission
You have an M5OD-R1 transmission, also known as M5R1, these are engine specific, 1988 to 2011 Ranger 2WD and 4x4 all used M5R1 but there were 7 sub-models specific to engine size and 2WD or 4WD
Can also be rear differential, with engine running and trans in gear see if drive shaft is turning, if so the its a rear axle issue not transmission
