9"Emission Control" can be several different things....chances are with that code, which is quite common in early Rangers, the canister vent solenoid and also purge flow sensor.......easy to replace....comes in complete assy from Ford part# F57Z-9C987-BA for 4.0L .....F57Z-9C987-CA for 3.0L....F57Z-9C987-AB for 2.3L.........hope this helps!

thanks for the part number. i went up to ford and they said it will cost me 110.00 to get that part. since i can not afford it right now does it need to be replaced soon as i get money or can it wait a while. i dont think that this is a serious problem since my truck it running fine but let me know if i neeed to fix it asap. thanks

you should have NO problem running the truck for awhile, this is more of a emission thing.......in other words no you will not do any major harm to your truck......
