Dome Light Flashing.
Dome Light Flashing.
Hi Guys. Billy from La here. I have an issue with my 2010 Ranger. I got in it the other day and it wouldn’t crank. No dash lights, dome light nothing. The only thing was a steady clicking coming from the kick panel fuse box. I’m assuming a relay was trying to stick but couldn’t. Battery was so dead it wouldn’t even jump. Went and bought a new battery and it started right up. I thought my problem was solved. But then 2-3 later I opened the door and didn’t have a dome light. Started just fine. When I killed it, the dome light flicked multiple times while the relay was steady kicking. I’m not sure which relay it is. Im assuming that whatever is causing the clicking might be draining my battery. I’ve disconnected the battery for the night so I don’t get stranded at work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Did you notice if the Door Ajar light was also on/flashing?
Was the "clicking" coming from the fuse panel in passenger side kick panel?
You can get your owners manual here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/genera...1-models-3747/
Looks like fuse 13 is for Horn and interior light
Try removing it to see if dome light and RELAY stop clicking
2004-2012 Ranger use a smart junction box(SJB) located with the fuse panel in passenger kick panel
The SJB has most of the relays built in, so they can't be changed if they break
But they rarely break
Inside each door is a door switch, 4 doors = 4 switches, it tells the SJB if a door is open, if so it will turn on the dome light, IF KEY is not in ignition
The door switch wire is GROUNDED when a door is open
So if you have a door switch that is failing or its wire is chaffed and grounding out it would cause SJB to activate dome light like a door was open
The Door ajar light "should" also be on as well as dome light
If door ajar light is not on, and it DOES WORK when door is open(so bulbs not burned out), then your problem may be the Dimmer wheel
See if you can dim the dash lights and when rotated all the way up the dome light comes on as it should
Other thing it can be is a corroded wire connection on the SJB
You need to disconnect each wire connector on the SJB and inspect connections then reconnect it
