Ob2 hook up for scanner won’t work

2002 ford ranger edge 4.0

hi so I bought the truck for $550 and I practically stole it for that price body is in great shape frame is perfect. But the truck has a transmission slip so I got out my snap on scanner and tried to run it through tests for injectors and tranny but when I plugged in the scanner it wasn’t getting any power from the ob2 so I grabbed my key programmer that can run scans and it wasn’t getting any connection to the ob2 either the guy put in a new motor so I’m wondering if he forgot to connect it to something or if maybe he’s pinched or knocked the wire when he put it in. I need to get a test light out and check if the ob2 is getting power but where can I find a wire guide do I can trace the wires and see if any are cut. Or any possible reasons it won’t work Thanks greatly appreciate
