Odd electrical issue

Odd electrical issue
I was told by the previous owner that the radio worked but the cruise control didn't. Then one day something happened and the radio stopped working, but the cruise started working. Ever since I've owned it, the factory radio hasn't worked. I took it to Ford to diagnose it and they said it's getting power--bad radio. So I bought a radio online and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. In preparation, I took out the old radio and noticed today while I was driving that the cruise control dash light works now. It stopped working back when the radio and cruise flip flopped which one was working.
So, to sum up, no radio and the dash cruise control light works. I have to see what happens when I put in the new radio, but if there's an underlying electrical issue, I'm hesitant. Could the old radio just be screwed and it was messing up other things? Electricity issues?
Anyone have any ideas?

Not seeing a connection on the 12volt side of things in 2001 diagram
Fuse 20 in cab fuse box(key on power) shows Audio Unit
Fuse 28 in cab fuse box is also hooked to radio but..................it is a MUTE feature, it only has 12volts when key is in START position, this should cause radio audio to shut off
Fuse 10 in cab fuse box(key on power) shows Speed control servo
all 3 are 7.5amp
And they are not on the same ignition switch bus/wire
The radio and cruise don't share a ground point
