Icon2 One key will start my truck.. the other does nothing?

Not sure what is going on...

My last 01' had a key that was just a duplicate from lowes or something..

The new 01' I got came with two keys. One will start the truck, the other will not.

Here is a picture of them.

Both keys are cut the same, both are FORD and both open and unlock the doors.

Not sure what's going on?

Thanks,
-Nigel

well to program a new key you need 2 programmed keys...if you only have that one you have to go to the dealer and they have to do it

OR---find a hardware store that has the "cloning" system--I'm pretty sure with that, you only need one programmed key. We're getting one in at work next week(finally).

Wirelessly posted

ACE hardware does the cloning system. A lot cheaper than going to the dealer. I would try this first.

As much as we bitch about the pats system I think we appreciate it especially with how easy it is to break into a ranger.
Of course if I ever did a v8 swap, that is the first thing I would have the programmer disable. At that point there would be a better system in place.

just mount a remote switch in a hidden spot. you push/hit the switch then you can start. like hide it in a good spot
