Question about A/C Compressor Switch Mod
I was reading the how to and had a question about the wiring. In the how to it referenced the purple wire on top of the connector,
Then later to show it possibly in the second position according to the pin out in spot 2 for the connector. In my truck I have the purple wire where the location is shown in the diagram, it is not on top of the harness.
Anyone have input on this?
The violet (purple) colored wire on top is the one we will cut for adding the switch

yes but i use this mod in the winter when runing the heater on floor and defrost sense it runs the ac compressor and gives you crappy gas milage when cruseing town.
The AC compressor runs for a reason, it removes moisture which removes condensation from your windshield much faster. Your driving habits are doing more to give you crappy gas mileage than the AC compressor running.....In the winter, the head pressure is low on the compressor, so the load on the engine is negligible.

Takeda... The A/C compressor runs in EVERY position except right on your face. And after doing the switch mod I can enjoy heat on my feet, and mileage of 20 mpg city. Where before it only did 18. I have the 3.slow. This was probably the best mod I have done on the truck.
And yes, like you said, in the morning if my windows are foggy, I pop it on for a bit to de-fog and then turn it right back off.
I can feel it every time it comes on. More or less its like lifting off the gas. A big jerk. Its VERY annoying when its happening every 35 seconds or so in non-a/c mode.

Sorry Bob , but you are incorrect.
The compressor runs in defrost mode to circulate the lubricant in the system to prevent the compressor from seizing over the Winter months.
It will NOT remove moisture from incoming cabin air at below freezing temperatures. The humidity content of outside air is too low.
