I've been having problems with the anti theft system in my 95 ranger XLT 3.0. the fob would only work every now and again and now my truck doesn't respond to it at all, I've put new batteries in and even bought a new fob, and no response while attempting to program them either.

I figured I'd just buy a new security system, but I'm not sure how to go about installing it. I understand and am able to wire it into my truck just fine, but I'm not so sure how to go about it since the factory anti theft is installed, is this something I can just remove and then wire the new one in? I guess the point of my post is to figure out what I need to do and what I shouldn't do when upgrading the security system.

You are better off fixing what you have

 

Id rather just upgrade it anyways. That's why I was asking for more info about it. I figured it would be been better to start a new thread for it

 

Do you have an anti-theft system or just keyless entry?

Is there a Theft light on the dash?

If you roll down the window and then lock up the truck, will the horn sound and lights flash if you reach in and open the door from inside?

 

Yeah I have anti theft. Theft light on dash and alarm will sound if I do that.
