speedometer doesnt work

speedometer doesnt work
i have a 98 4x4 ranger ex cab. i blew a brake line in march or so and just got if fixed the other day. i took it out for the first time in months and my speedometer wasnt working right i smacked it and it started working again. then i took it out today and now it doesnt work. any advice please
