Starter won’t start

At Yesterday the following situation happened to me. After the starter had been mounted, when I went to turn it on, the starter stuck. I unplug the battery plug and the Ford Ranger 2006 stayed on normally. When I went to turn it on again it did not turn on and the check engine lights came on. The starter was replaced as it had spots and smell that had burned. The starter was installed but I have doubts about a small cable that has an insolation that I do not know where it is located. I understand that that cable is ground

Sounds like the battery cable was not disconnected before you started tinkering with the starter and something shorted out. This is a do over removing the battery cable (either one), remove the starter and check all the wires and cables for melted insulation, etc. and repair as needed. put it all back and check the fuses.
