Is there a difference a 2007 in-dash wiring and a 2009 in-dash wiring harness?
Hey guys,
I really need your help on this one … I need to know if there is a difference between a 2007 in-dash wiring and a 2009 in-dash wiring harness other than the colors of the wires? (Mainly the plug that goes through the floor to the frame harness and powers up the fuel pump not the one that goes to the electric motor on the transfer case.)
I basically need someone that has access to both the 2007 and 2009 electrical wiring diagrams manuals to look and see if a 2009 wiring harness would work in a 2007 because I have literally looked all over the U.S. for a 2007 wiring harness for a Ranger with the manual transmission and the power equipment group and I absolutely could not find one, but I found a brand new 2009 on FordPartsPrime.com. I know that there's no difference between a 2007 Ranger and a 2009 other than the power door switches so I bought the thing and when it arrived it looked identical to a 2007 so I went through all the trouble of installing it and I got everything hooked up and went to start the truck and it cranks over but the engine won't start.
I also can't hear the fuel pump kicking on in the tank. The truck did sit for 3 weeks while I was working on it, so could it be possible that the fuel pump went bad while it was sitting there for 3 weeks? (I have checked the fuel inertia switch and the fuel pump relay and both of them are good.)
I just don't want to spend $158 on a new fuel pump and that not be the issue. I would also like to know why the shorter the wheelbase on the Ranger the more expensive the fuel pump is and can I just buy the one for an extended cab and just use the main pump?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW … The Part # on the 2009 wiring harness is 8L5Z-14401-GA
