Yes - the truck is white, so I painted the boards white (see previous threads) - everything inside of the headlight (except for inside of the projectors) is going to match the body - white.

That's good, I figured you thought of it already. I love how it's coming along.

Last for today after 12 straight hours of work on this, I've painted the internals to match the body.

Shrouds, Lamps and Corners. I masked off the sealant trench to avoid adhesion problems during resealing.

This is cool but I think it would have looked a million times better if you did it all chrome (they sell real chrome paint at hobby stores for airbrushes) or atleast a contrasting color.

It's not off-white, it's pure glossy white. Camera might make it look "off-white" but it's really white in real life.

haha looks like everyone is impatiently awaiting the final results

Its coming along nicely :) Btw this project with PCB gives me a thought since its an exterior mod. You Don't happen to have any plans to come up with a future revision to your LED 3rd brakelight? It would be sweet to see one done with the cargo(or super duty) style using a custom PCB.

I attempted something down that road myself awhile back. I think i used something like 15 lumileds or crees per cargo light and 30 reds for the brake portion. Also used generic radioshack board i cut to size. The problem i ran into however was coming up with resistors to handle all that without putting out tons of heat in such a small space. Also I never was able to come up with some sort of a light spreader lens that worked perfectly with the cargo version.

I'm sure you could come up with something a lot better than I
lol its one of two places that's not LED on my truck. The other being my front amber turns since my V-LEDs plug-ins crapped out a few months ago just outside their warranty.

I plan on using the standard red ones I already have. I will make a PCB packed tight with as many 635 nanometer RED Superflux LumiLEDs as I can fit. If I used any other brake light, it would be the all clear one, and I would paint the board to match the body so you can't really see it from the outside.

I use 4 LED in series and only need about 40 ohms or so and the power dissipation through the resistors is about .08w. I'm using .25w resistors. The paths on the board get warmer themselves because it's conducting about 50-55ma usually.

I'm sure you could come up with something a lot better than I

Do you have HID or Incandescent bulbs up front? How many miles did you get from your VLED?
