just use common sense and you wont have an issue. take it easy untill you get used to the terrain and how your rig handles in it. its no biggy, just dont try and turn while going up a hill. lol ive seen retards do that and it never ends well.

that must take a while and really heat up the brakes and clutch. but i guess it's better then rolling side over side to the bottom of the slope.

screw the brake, just put it in R and let the engine do the braking, tap the brake as needed. When you get there you should really pull your RCM fuse and your ABS fuse, those safety features are useless out there.

I think you are worrying about it more then what you need too, it will be fine, just watch others and listen to what people are telling you.

Its sand, so you put it in reverse and most of the time you do not move lol

I made my reservations for the night of the 4th and 5th. As it stands right now I'll be +1. That's up in the air though. I can't wait to get out there again.

If anyone wants to buy some pretty new MT Baja ATZ's I want to get Wrangler Duratracs haha.

maly, i've got a stick. not an auto. what is the RCM? i might be giving it a little more caution since it's my first real off road driving and my first time in the sand/dunes. thank you for the concern and advice.

restraint control module, you disconnect it so your air bags will be disabled

also, for the most part you will want to stay in 4x4 low, this will cut the load you are putting on the trans in half and it will run a significantly lower temperature. change your oil before you come

why change the oil before? also if it's in 4low, wouldn't that increase my rpms and limit my top speed? i'm probbably wrong, but don't you wanna keep the momentum going on sand and if you run outta rpms or hit the top end of your power band wouldn't it be a bad thing?

in 4 low it will limit your top speed but there will be no time when you will go over probably 40 anyway due to the terrain.

also change your oil before hand becuase your truck will see 5-6k frequently....i change my oil before and change my oil, trans, tcase and axles after because i usually like the water

now if i avoid the water, i wouldn't have to worry about changing everything like you do or would i? i won't be able to do an oil change after til i get back from chicago at the end of the week. f i had to change, would it be a problem if i waited that long?

thanks for answering the questions justin.

Justin is just over cautious.

i still have not changed mine since the last time i went. i change my oil ever 10k, i dont care if i swallowed water, submurged it, burnouts in it, you name it. I still change mine in regular intervals and I will continue to do so.

Same with transmissions and tcases, as for axles, i dont really care about those either. ha.

And mine sees, high speed in 4Lo, 4Hi, water, sand, whatever.

man im getting excited, hope my rig is done and home by then

I know I'll be changing my oil right before the trip. It'll just be that time because I bet with the time that I'm home from May-June I'll put right about 3k on it. :) And my 3.0 gets rev happy in 4Lo.

3 Liters of THUNDER!!!!!

I change my oil and trans oil after just because im doing 1300 miles just to get there and back and I tow a 2,000lb camper out there. Your oil is all you really need to worry about. Just do it when you have time.

Dont let any of this scare you out of going. Dont be stupid and everything will be fine.
