New to ford's but loving my ranger. NEED HELP!!
So I was in the process of doing a head gasket replacement and all the good stuff that goes with that when in the middle of doing so someone stole all my parts I took off, all the bolts, and decided hey why not take these nice tools also. :((( Anyways so now I have my 1995 4.0 v6 automatic with the 4x2 needing to swap motor. (Easier than trying to replace each part and the hardware) ok so now I went out and got this 1994 explorer with the 4.0 but it's 4x4. The tranny is needing to be rebuilt or replaced but I am thinking " can I just put that running motor from the explorer into my ranger?" Or what... Need help and gotta go with a cheaper/quicker route. This was my only vehicle and need to get back to work. I hate having to bus it.
Welcome to the forum
It should be fine for the swap, manual/auto, 2wd or 4x4 don't matter
Wiring the sensors and injectors may be different, since you can't swap over your 1995 upper and lower intakes to the 1994 engine, IF you don't have them
But cross that bridge when you get to it
1994 was the last year of the EEC-IV 60 wire computers, 1995 used EEC-V 104 wire computers, but connectors "should" be the same, you HAVE TO USE 1995 wiring harness
