Brake re-lining hassle

I am re brake lining my new to me 1994 Ranger. It jumps all over the place with fitting sizes. Is there a site that says what those fitting sizes are?
I had the same when ding my 1995 Taurus. Ended up taking the cut off ends to the brake rack at Auto zone and comparing them to what they had. Bought a few there and they were out of a couple. Wrote down the #'s and bought some on line.
What is he big secret about not suppling that info? I think it is money. Ford charges a fortune for those bastard sized line fittings.
Anyone know what the master cylinder fittings are. One appears to be 3/8 thrd.
the other 7/16. They are both like 3/16 line bubble. Is there a SAE bubble? Or are they all metric. SAE fitting with metric bubble???
Or maybe spending the money for flaring tools if I do more re-linings.

Welcome to the forum

Ford used different size fittings on the metal brake lines, there will be no standard size or part number that will for sure match what you have.

Just the way it is in the mid-1990's, had to replace my 94's rear brake line and ran into the same thing

I used "matching" fitting on one end of longer lines and then adapter at the other end
Because on a few lines they used different fittings on the same line, lol, which would be a Ford only part, but probably not available any more.

Yes, because of the money, but not to sell parts.
I think they were switching over to metric in the mid-1990's and some parts were still SAE while others were now metric so instead of throwing out all the SAE parts they used them until they were gone then replaced with metric
Cost less to make 10,000 custom brake lines than replacing all the SAE parts

Not a Ford thing, have run into this on all domestic maker vehicles, i.e. GM, Dodge, Jeep, ect...........they all switched over to metric for most parts and that caused similar issues when they did
Foreign cars/trucks were pretty much all metric to begin with, except for the UK vehicles, lol.

Summit racing has a lot of SAE because they supply things for old race cars.
Still would like to know.

1993 Ranger brake fittings

I have determined that the master cylinder is metric bubble and the front wheel hoses are SAE. I got out my collection of fine threaded metric SAE screws and a micrometer. The wheel hoses are 3/8 fine and the MC is 10 and 12 mm. 13mm wrench. All the other fittings were 7/16 . The rear wheel cylinders and ABS has a bigger thread like 7/16 fine. I wanted to nail down the front first. The ABS could be metric but I doubt it.
I can buy all the lines 3/16 x 3/8 24 thrd'd ends for about the same price as 25ft roll brake line and then have to buy all the fittings and make them up and buy the tools. All I need is about 6 adapters if they are available.
Two new front hoses $40 and 25% discount from advanced auto = $32 with tax.
7 brake lines averaging $3 each plus shipping. about $35.
Maybe 6 adapters at about $4 each $24, Misc couplings brake fluid etc.
Should be less than $100 if the rear drums and cylinders are good.
