I think I want the kingpin version, what 78-79? I want a clean axle tube, honestly i have not looked into it much, once i get the 5.4 going I will.

That thing is huge, I don't know how your going to shoehorn that thing in, are you going to have to modify the engine cross member or anything up front to get that thing to sit in there?

the worst part is probably going to be the firewall and the overall height of the engine.

the frame is actually wide enough to fit the motor mounts without too much modification.

All leaf spring or radius arm? I think they are all leaf spring which I guess would be ok. I need some axle tube on the drivers side.

All leafspring, 78-79 have the most tube on the driverside. But I dont know if you will run into oilpan issues with it because it moves the pumpkin in futher under the truck. A 78-79 is setup almost exactly like your current 44 IIRC.

yeah that looks right to me. like mine that is.

do you think i should go with that or is there a better option? looks like my calipers and brakes will work from the D44 to the 78-79 D60 which is a plus.

Theres still room on a 86-91 axle and the stock cast on spring perch can be trimmed back. I had to do this on my waggy 44, I cut off like 2" of the built in perch.

the only problem with a 78-79 D60 is they go for about double what a 86-91 goes for.

Looks like that 87 D60 has Jeep D30 mounts on it... That works! I don't really like the angle of his panhard bar though.

Thats just a random picture I found on Mr.N's site. The 78-79 D60 picture was my old axle before I sold it.

Going to do any work to that 4R100? They are a very good transmission stock and with a little bit of power added. Didn't really read to see if you were going to build the trans.

I'm on my second 4R100 in the F250. The first one kind blew up lol. Every gear except first and that went out as i pulled into the garage we worked on it in. Bad boy was cooked good.
