99offroadrngr's build up / evolution

I sold my JDM, as Korey calls it, in 2007 and looked around for a truck and ended up buying my 1999 ranger with 58k with the off road package. I never planned on doing a single thing to this truck but then i found RF and got the never ending mod bug/sickness that most, if not all of us on here get.

Day 1:

i got a bad habit of doing burnouts when i first got my truck so i bought a set of 265/75/16 (equivilant to 31s) all terrains
Name: Snow2.jpg
Views: 647
Size: 56.1 KB

Did first real "mod", the cheap mesh behind the grille.

With the help of a friend, we built a subwoofer enclosure. Nothing special and it was both of our first times trying to make something like this but it served its purpose and actually sounded well. The cut-out on the bottom is for the "hump" on the floor of our trucks....subs are gone now though

Painted my radio bezel to match the truck....that rubbery coating is a b!tch to get off!
Name: Dash1.jpg
Views: 916
Size: 50.0 KB

got a flowmaster exhaust with dual tips out the back. Now its chopped off and dumped with no tips because of the body lift.
Name: Exhaust1.jpg
Views: 664
Size: 37.1 KB

First time down a trail i blew out the PVH hubs that come stock on the truck....garbage so i made the best investment of buying a set of AVM/Rugged Ridge manual locking hubs....til today, they work great
Name: Hubs3.jpg
Views: 916
Size: 50.7 KB

Picked up a set of clear corners
Name: IMG_0109.jpg
Views: 635
Size: 87.7 KB

That LED conversion of the gauge cluster had me nervous and i never wanted to deal with taking the dash apart but i ended up giving in and beginning.

Done with stock cluster:
Name: IMG_0011.jpg
Views: 660
Size: 36.1 KB

got sick of the stock wheels so i bought a set of Mickey Thompson Classic II 15" wheels
Name: Rims.jpg
Views: 744
Size: 112.5 KB

Found a set of 33x12.5x15 Kumho M/Ts for a deal i couldn't pass up at all on craigslist so i bought them....basically brand new
Name: IMG_0012.jpg
Views: 648
Size: 94.7 KB

I obviously couldn't fit those tires stock so that meant it was time for the body lift to be purchased. Thanks to W1CKY for helping me with it.

Truck done with 33s mounted:

bought a set of hella 500s

Size: 94.8 KB

There was a truck at the junkyard that was only the cab left...bed was gone, frame was gone, front end was basically gone and i couldn't tell what it was but i casually went to it one day and found it was an Fx4 ranger. Inside were black with grey insert bucket seats and center console (armrest was missing) along with black vinyl rear jumpseats and a silver radio bezel....I couldn't leave them there so i pulled them myself.

also found an explorer sport with white-faced gauge cluster so i couldn't leave that either

What the the hell is an OHC? did some research and there were many explorers at the junkyard so i pulled one. Thanks to the how-to written by the long gone and banned Marcus, I got rolling on the project. It was pretty iffy cutting the headliner but it went well.

(got 5hp for that sticker on visor btw)

Also did the played out mustang/taurus domelight mod
Name: IMG_0187.jpg

finally found an armrest for my center console. Thanks Matt (seed60) for trading for my hellas.
Name: IMG_0367.jpg
Views: 741

Also heard about "redding out" tail lights which have amber on them so they're all red. Thanks to Crazymikey, wherever you may be, for helping me via PM before doing it.

Finally got a rear hitch on the truck

Needed and wanted more storage so i bought a toolbox off of someone on here, drove to his house and picked it up.
Name: IMG_0556.jpg
Views: 621
Size: 123.7 KB

The toolbox had two holes in the middle that were left when the original emblem was taken off so i came up with the idea of putting a ford oval over it...worked out great!

always wondered why the heck the cruise pods never lit up on some 98-00s so i did a bit of research and found out some weren't pre-wired for it, well they were but the connections were never finished so i finished them.
....LED sucked but its brighter now but no recent pics lol
Name: IMG_0633.jpg
Views: 640

bought a slide-in receiver with clevis that gets used when i get stuck lol....thanks Trevor!

at one point i became jealous of HozII's dsg centered/polished lip classic IIs so i asked him a few questions and began work on my own.

Always wanted a scangauge but never bought one because they're too bulky and I don't like places where i've seen most mounted. Thanks Korey for showing me the Aeroforce, much cleaner installation than the scangauge II's (in my opinion).

picked up a 33x12.5x15 all terrain for a spare (20 bucks) and still has the "new tire" markings on it...what a steal!

My truck had a water leak somewhere so i was told to water test it. Wtf is water testing? i found out what it meant and required all of the interior to come out but it was well worth it...found out the location of the leak

I always loved the look of the 01-03 XLTs. After about a year of contemplating the swap, I started to collect the parts.

As you can see in this picture on the passenger side headlight, the "Shield" that goes over the headlight bulb FELL OFF (damn certifit headlights) so this only meant one thing had to be done.

oh shi I didnt realize you got a new bumper too. Looks great! Are those Trevor's bumper brackets? I reeeeally need me some of those.

Question, is that front hitch just the stock factory crossmember off another Ranger? I thought they were a solid piece of the actual frame....

His front hitch is some hitch he bought off CL that he had welded in place

Korey said it for me. My front crossmember is still there it came stock with it since im 4x4 off road package but the hitch is welded to the frame itself not the thin crossmember that tow hooks mount to...i honestly wouldn't even trust using a tow hook seeing how thin it is.
