Bob's swap project: Level II meets 5.0L
If only we all knew what was going on, back in Bob’s Garage.
Bigger is always better !
AND yes I do not think I have seen a better build or modified Ranger, clean well thought out changes and executed with experience and accuracy far beyond anything I have ever done.
Another AND Bob is one of the good guys that will help you with a problem and with info you can count on.

I'm a new guy. I've been looking at the forum for a couple of days and love what I see. This thread is just what I was looking for. I have an 02 Edge and thinking of doing a 302 swap to hall my 75 Noton Commando around.
Well done on your swap!

My luck
Hello,my name is Dave,I lice in Evansville In and I trying to find out what years of the 4.0 sohc engine I can put in my 2001 ranger 4x4,I currently have a 4.0 in it now that a local company was going to install the timeing chain guides in but instead reset the timeing and bent some valves,so now Im in the process of looking for another 4.0 motor, but I like to find as new of a motor as possible as I can so I can get away from the dreadded guide problem they have,I have heard the the blocks and heads are the same but I would have to change the intake and some sencors.Does any body know if I can put a 2004 to a 2011 engine in my ranger and let me know what kind of changes I would have to do on the later model engines, thanks for your time,"Dave"

This is a great thread about a member's 5.0 project not a where to find a 4.0.
Start a new thread about your ambitions for a Ranger, get responses and ask questions.
Sorry for being abrupt but I for one do not like it when someone changes a thread to their own topic.
state inspection
Hey Bob: what a great endeavor you are undertaking. you will have an awesome vehicle when done !
I have thought of installing a 5.0 but was concerned about inspection time. I am in North Carolina and each year we have to hook to a computer that is connected to the state capital. Does Michigan have any requirements about year of engine vs year of vehicle and emissions ?
