Im half and half on this thing. 40's, coilovers, 3 link....cool. D44, HEIGHT.....very uncool. Cut some fender or go to a small fiberglass bulge fender and lower it at least 6-8".

D44s aren't "****" they just have their limits.. and a 40" tire is definitely over the limit. a 35 is the biggest i would safely suggest on one.
Should be fine for sand and snow... Cause the sand I barely need 4wd and if I do, i'm not going fast enough to get air and come down hard and snap a shaft. The snow, I should be fine... Street i'll be fine. Moderate trails I SHOULD be fine. It's just the situations where I get air and it slams down, or in a bind with traction or things like that is where I see there being problems. But I would like to get a D60 when I can afford one. I wasn't aware this was a wide trac waggy like zach said... I'm going to just put 2" spacers on the rear for now. It'll be close enough. If I would of known it was a wide trac, I woulda got a d60 rear in the first place since my buddy had 3 laying around. lol I didn't realize there were wide trac waggy axles.
I know it looks tall as hell in pics but when it's sitting in my driveway, it doesn't look wayyy too tall. I agree it's too tall though! I need to be this tall till I get glass fenders or cut. Which will be soon hopefully. My main goal was to get it drive able.

looks like a hell of lot of work but it lookes good i would have to agree with others that it is too tall
what i would do is take the BL off and put some glass on with like a 4-6 bulge but nothing crazy and you gotta paint em (i cant stand leavin them white) then maybe drop the rear an in or 2 and youll be good to go
sick truck tho

please don't get a rear 60.. i guess if the front 44 lives the rear 60 should be fine, but once you really start beating it rear 60s are junk.
just do yourself a favor and start with a 14bff

Meh we'll see, I'll test it with 42s and the 5.4. I better just go to rockwells. Pinion brakes are ba anyway.Originally Posted by 99ranger4x4

I dunno bout stopping just as good... I think the heat and brake fade would play a HUGE roll in pinion brakes not being as good... Call me stupid but I want to stop good EVERY time not just the first 2 times...
pinions are usually just used so its less crap to go bad. like why monster trucks use them. be alot more spendy trying to keep 4 discs going good then 2 pinion brakes

Pinion brakes heat up and fade out very fast. Which is why anyone will tell you they are not to be used on the street. Originally Posted by red_fx2

They are used cause they are cheaper, no other reason. brakes are dirt simple to maintain. Specially disks.Originally Posted by INT3RC3PTOR

x2. Looks like you put in the time to do the work right (or got the friends which works as well), but why that tall? It looks like just another Texas or Florida truck (no offense to you Texas and Florida guys but lets be realistic... you build them TALL). Originally Posted by redranger4.0

Realistically, if your goal was 40s, IMO you should have been ready to trim some fender on the truck (as well custom bumpers, etc.).
Not bad mouthing the work, but just my $0.02.

I don't have the money for glass fenders yet. Once I do it'll be about 4" lower. It's settling and it's not as tall anymore as when I first posted the pics... I don't get why you guys are so hung up on the height. I know it's tall. I'm changing that when I can...Originally Posted by SniperX103

thats not ALL texas trucks, thats east Texas junk.. my truck sits lower than a SL/BL truck on 35s, my tires about the same distance below the frame as they are stock.
Okay I measured it.. It's settled pretty evenly. 2" From when the pictures were posted. It's looking alot better. I'll get pics in the next day or two.

never said anything about being in the street, but in a off-road situation, they work well.
