What you see is it partly stripped. So yes, it's getting re painted too.

Oh man... It's been a while! Looks like I haven't updated this thread in about five years. No better time than now to revive it!

It looks like Imageshack hosed me and killed all the photos I had hosted. All good, we'll start over with new.

Since I've updated this thread I've gotten married, bought a house, and have a child due (tomorrow). So it's a minor miracle that I still even have the truck. Ha!

I still try and take it out as often as possible and it's still a ton of fun.

If you look back a few pages you'll see that I swapped in a transmission that I bought from zabeard. It worked great for almost six years (sounds right). Then it finally crapped out. So what does that mean? V-8 swap. Which is what I'm in the midst of now.

Any questions? hahaha

Nice lot of parts there for the 5.0! Just finished mine up myself a couple months ago. I remember seeing your build on DR a long time ago. Good to see you still have the truck. I didn't see headers anywhere... You upgrading to the 98+ at least? Those 96-97 ones are such crap! I can't believe Ford ever let those out of the factory. Got mine on Rockauto for right around $100

It's great to see you've still got the truck and are still working on it. Congrats on the family too!

What cam did you get?

You've only seen a small selection of the parts pile... haha. The engine is a '98, but yea, it's going to get a set of headers, just not sure which ones yet (still need heads too).

I never stopped working on it, just stopped coming on the forums. The cam is a 35-351-8 from Comp. It should be pretty aggressive without being over the top.

That has the same grind number as mine. I'm running the "carb" version of that grind even though I have EFI. It doesn't hurt it though. I pulled the specs on it compared to the one I have (which I really like by the way). It's a little different, but it's not too much. I have some videos on my build thread if you want to check out the lope.

Like you said, it's not over the top , but it's definitely enough to get your attention. Yours will probably still be a bit more aggressive though.

Right on! I just read all 17 pages of your build thread... hahaha

I decided to go 331 and can't wait to see how she performs.

Haha hopefully the thread will expand a lot more soon. Still have some unfinished business to do this year

Based on the parts you're showing in the pics, it shouldn't have any trouble putting up some good numbers. The stock 5.0 is a nice improvement over the Ranger's 4.0, but they have a ton of potential for those that want to build them up. It's cool to see several guys around here doing 5.0 builds at the same time and compare what everyone is doing.

And we're back from the machine shop. L&R Engines did a fantastic job getting the block into shape. Almost time to assemble!

Got it drenched in WD40 and sacked up to stay clean.

Yea no kidding! It was not treated nice either... ha! Reverse had been going out for a few years (would 'skip' if there was any sort of load going backwards) then finally back in October it just gave up. Had just barely enough forward bite to get back on the trailer.

It's a girl and she should be here any time, we're just waiting on her now.

Yea, work has me going some crazy places these days. Iceland probably takes it for this year, so far.

I'm lazy. A mod motor seems like too much work (I remember your build lol). And I know I can make a stupid amount of power out of a good old fashioned 5.0.

The transmission is almost ready to handle all of the theoretical power...

You know, she's actually been really good. We've been able to sleep, aside from the midnight, 3am, and 6am feedings lol

The trans was rebuilt by TCI with the intent of holding the power I should be making

Just think in a few years you can strap a car seat to the passenger side and go wheeling. That's what I did, my son had a blast. He likes riding in the front seat.
