Starter Problem

Starter Problem
My 1989 ford ranger 2.3l 5spd is having a problem engaging the starter. There is power up to the starter solenoid but no power goes to the starter ( I replaced the starter solenoid but didn’t do anything ) I also tested the solenoid with a multimeter and I have 12.6 volts into the solenoid but nothing coming out. I cannot figure out what’s wrong for the life of me.

Welcome to the forum
The part that is on the inner fender is the Starter Relay, often called a solenoid but its a relay
The larger Battery Positive cable runs to one of the larger posts on this relay, on this same post are several other wires, this is also the Power Distribution post
On the relay's other larger post is just one cable, a larger cable that runs to Starter Motor
Then there is a smaller post on the relay, should have the letter "S" near it, this is to activate the relay, it has a Red/blue stripe wire connected to it, this wire comes from the ignition switch in the cab
Some starter relays have 2 smaller posts, one will have "S" the other "I", you always use the "S" post.
Test: FIRST make sure truck is in NEUTRAL, and a wheel is blocked
Now use a jumper wire from battery positive to the "S" post, the small post, starter Relay should close and starter motor should engage
If starter motor works then is Wiring is OK
Battery Positive-----(big cable)--------starter relay-----------(big cable)------------------starter motor
So you will need to look at this wiring
Ignition switch------------------Clutch Switch--------------(red/blue wire)------------------starter relay
The Clutch switch is used to prevent starting in gear, clutch pedal must be pushed down all the way to CLOSE this switch
Drawing of switch here: https://www.2carpros.com/forum/autom...2217_CPP_1.jpg
Switch is under the dash on the clutch pedals push rod
