Sold the Ranger for a 77 Crewcab

I hate to have to tell you guys this, but the Ranger has found a new home. Ive got a baby on the way and there was no way a baby seat and the wife could fit in the ranger. So it was time to get a 4 door truck. I sold the ranger to some teenager who was overwhelmingly excited for $8500 and began my search for my new toy truck/project/hobby. There was no way in hell I was going to get an import 4 door, it was going to be a Ford or nothing. I battled with the idea of getting a 92-97 crewcab with the powerstroke, but my wife gets ill when she smells diesel, so that option was out. I learned that F150 crewcabs in my price range of $8500 didnt get the greatest gas mileage and I always loved the old 70's crewcabs, so it just so happens that a really nice one was for sale locally and in my price range.
So I have to say good bye and am very thankful for this site, it helped me alot along the way. I will stop by from time to time just to see whats happening in the ranger world.

Jealous of the new truck and the teenager who got your Ranger. How many miles did it have?

I love this new truck just as much as i loved my ranger. I sold the ranger with 76k and the 77 crew has only 48k. I was just looking at some threads with a SAS and one day maybe when my kid gets older I'll come back the the ranger and built the sh*t out of one and teach the kid a thing or two.

nice crewcab, but you could have put a child seat in the supercab of the ranger, did it on my '88 the seat belt didnt hold it down very tight, so i used tarp straps to keep it secure in place on the jump seat, it was a smaller child seat though, the newer ones are a bit big to fit on the jump seat, sure it was mounted sideways but it did the job fine. the 400 is a pretty strong motor, but it does like the fuel 4inch bore by 4 inch stroke, probly wont get over 10 mpg. oddly enough i plan to teah my daughter to drive on my ranger and might give it to her as her first "car"

I did consider trying to stuff a child seat in the ranger especially since I loved that truck and never thought id let it go. But there is no way in h*ll i was going to strap down my kid with a tarp strap. My wife and I tried to fit a childseat on the jump seat and that put the pass seat all the way forward and my wife just laffed at me for even trying it. So i knew it was time for a 4 door. She loved the newer F150 crewcabs til she found out how much people wanted for them. I wasnt about to finance something and have some big payment everymonth, plus full coverage ins and then gas on top of all that. My 77 is paid for and the best part is the insurance is cheaper than anybody else on this site. Since its a 77, its considered a classic auto, so I now qualify for classic car insurance. My payment is $123 a year with full coverage and they will never total it out. I have it convered so The ins. will pay $15000 to put it back into shape. I am supposed to be restriced to 6000 miles a year, but they never check any odometer readings. Sweet deal as far as im concerned. So as far as the gas mileage is concerned, since I only live 3 miles from work my gas bill wont be that out of control for the month.

Im glad you guys like the truck, its nice to see the classics are still appreciated. I cant wait to start tinkering with it and making it my own. First is going to be a leveling kit and then maybe a new bumper so I can put on a nice winch.

Im gonna have to check out the F150 forums site and see what they got. Ive been on Ford trucks enthusiasts and they have a ton on info on the old trucks and on my 400cid engine.

It was bitter sweet to see my ranger drive away. But I can always get another one.

My 400 just has a stock 2bbl so it gets up and goes but it sure isnt a built 460 that hauls ***.

Im gonna head on over to the F150 forums and sign up. I'll do my part and support the new site since this site has served me very well over the years.

Wow. Nice find. I think that it was a great deal. You dont find many 77s with under 50k miles.

Im loving that 77. Enjoy it.
