So my engine light has been on for a few days and I havnt been able to check it and for those of you who saw my other thread know why. But now that thats fixed I ran in through a scanner and it came up with p0171 and p0174. Anyone have any clue what they mean or where to check what they mean? Thank you

 

It's running lean on both banks. The first thing to look for is a vacuum leak.

 

OOOoooo thanks. Wow I didnt know thats the reason its running so terribly hahaha. Ill take a look first thing tomorrow. Other sites said I should also replace my MAF, is that needed?

 

Not before you eliminate the simple, cheap things like a vac leak.

 

Ok so what should I be looking for exactly? As far as I can tell I cant fine any hoses with any leaks but is there something in particular that would make both banks run lean?

 

Plugged fuel filter , maybe PCV valve stuck open.

 

your truck is saying should of gotten at 4.0 and 37's.

 

Check the vacuum hoses. I had the same prob this year. Was the hose under the radiator. I sprayed some F.I cleaner down around there and found it quick.

 

Check all the 90 degree rubber elbows too.. Thats what the problem was on mine when it was throwing those codes.. I think their are a couple of threds on it, just search....

 

and it still wants to be yellow


Like said above, try and find a vac leak.. its MUCH cheaper (if not free) than a MAF sensor. Check out the PCV elbow, hell the whole thing might be gone, i've seen that before.

intake plenum gasket could be leaking. Easiest way is to find someone with a smoke machine.

 

Alright Thanks. Ill go check it out. I used some MAF cleaner to see if that was it cuz I decided to buy a K&N before I new how crappy it was so I was thinkin it coulda been that but besides makin idle a bit better didnt seem to do much
