I found the hole. Im worried I may not get enough in there this cover is bigger

through the front diff fill hole? that will work fine just keep dumping it in until its coming back out at ya.
i wouldnt use the gasket either. RTV works great.
I run 80w90 Lucas gear oil in mine, no need for additives and such then.

If you set the Ranger fluid level using the Explorer rear cover fill hole, your axle lube will be low and may starve the outer axle bearings. An 8.8 Ranger diff should take about 2.5~2.75 quarts of lube filled to the bottom of the diff housing fill hole.
