My Ranger parked where my grandfather's old F150 used to sit....before it rusted out. That's the rust belt, for you!

Looks good sitting there! Ron would have looked good driving a Ranger!

True, but to be honest, I think the Ranger is a tad small for him. I mean, look at the size of his Navigator. I want that 4.6!

True... Ron is a tall man. Okay, you can have the 4.6L... I want the gray leather seats!

Works for me!

Although I doubt that big engine would fit. If it did, it would be one heck of a squeeze.

I just traded a 2000 Honda Rebel 250 Motorcycle for my first truck. A 1997 Ranger XLT.

Looks to me like you've got a clean third gen sitting there. Got any plans for it? I'd recommend swapping the front clip over to an 01-03 setup, if only so you don't have to deal with the problematic third generation headlights.

Its going to be my everything truck. And you can switch the whole front end? It needs a new hood as well right?

I don't think you have to have the hood. I'll do a little looking and come back to that with *hopefully* a definite answer.

And yeah, you totally can. Bumpers, hood, fenders, header panels, all that can be switched out. Heck, some people even go for the ford explorer front end swap, which looks pretty snazzy.

From what searching Ive done, there's a lot of people saying that it's a direct bolt on swap. Others say some fabrication is involved. Some say you need the core support. others say you dont.

If you really want to go through with it, get these items. Hood, fenders, bumper (with brackets) header panel (with lights and grille) and the hood latch as well as the core support.

If you want to swap to the explorer, get all the same parts. Do note that the expo swap is NOT a bolt up swap. The fenders are completely different on both ends. Doing the expo front end swap requires the use of a welder, as the fenders from the ranger and expo need to be grafted together.
Just google "ford ranger front end swap" and you'll get loads of hits.

A long time ago I broke 2 of the mounting ears off one of the fogs and since they aren't a replaceable piece, I've been waiting until I either buy a new bumper or make a custom one.

The SAS took priority over the bumper so that's why they're still gone

@Red: Nice edge there. Likin' the revolvers you're sporting.

@01ranger: Yeah, I see what you mean. Never noticed that before. I'd personally go for something from either the same year or another year model. Perhaps like an 08 bumper. Maybe even one of those tube-style offroad bumpers if you're into that.

Time for new tires. So happy with these, that I'll be picking up another set before winter. Going to get well over 55k miles out of them.
